As we begin the last leg of our journey through Lent, it doesn’t matter if we had a good Lent or not. We began with enthusiasm and hope for change. If we failed, we began again. St. Teresa of Calcutta said, “Saints are only sinners who keep on trying.”
Good Friday seemed without hope, yet HE IS ALIVE! Jesus broke the chains of death and opened heaven to you and to me.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in his great mercy gave us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. …” 1Peter 1:3
The Gospel recounts the time when the disciples were gathered in the upper room and Jesus came through the closed door. That is the joy of the Resurrection. Never before have we needed him so much to come through the closed door of our world, of our country, our home and our heart.
So, how can we bring Jesus into our homes and our hearts? St. Paul’s words to the Colossians guide us:
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another… as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love. …” Colossians 3:12-14
He is risen! Praying your hearts and homes will be filled with the hope and joy of our risen Savior. Alleluia!
