Why Give?
With the support of generous friends like you, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur are able to continue our more than 200 year old mission of educating and taking a stand with those in poverty — especially women and children in the most abandoned places.
By joining with us, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur are able accomplish our worldwide mission to spread the goodness of God and minister where others may not choose to go. Your gift will multiply many times over, as our Sisters bring hope to the lives of children, women and families, here at home and around the world.
We are grateful for your generosity and hope that you will take great pride in the important difference made possible through your support.
With you, we change lives.
How Does My Gift Make a Difference?
Your gift support Sisters and programs here in the U.S. and around the world. Our five priorities include:
Support Sisters who work directly with people in poverty in the U.S.
Your gift makes it possible for Sisters to work directly with people in poverty in positions where a salary is not available or is inadequate. It will also support Sisters who work in unfunded special-needs programs in schools and provide for living expenses and benefits until a ministry's funding can be secured and is self-sufficient. Sisters supported by your gift include Sister Judy Tensing in Cincinnati, Ohio who runs a job training program through a pizzeria and catering business; and Sister Nancy Wellmeier, who works with immigrant families in Phoenix, Arizona. Support the Sisters work in Latin America and Africa
Your gift provides for the living expenses, education and spiritual preparation of our Sisters in the growing communities of Africa and Latin America. It supports Sisters who serve some of the world's most needy children and adults in these developing nations. It also supports the repair and construction of essential facilities including our Clean Water Project located throughout Nigeria and Congo. Our congregation is completely responsible for the living and education expenses of our Sisters. However, in these developing countries, only 25% of the Sisters' costs can be covered locally. Sisters supported by your gift include Sister Rebecca Trujillo in Metagalpa, Nicaragua who runs “Familias Especiales de Santa Julia Billiart” to help special needs children by focusing first on their mothers. Support the care of frail and elderly Sisters
Your gift is used to meet the retirement and health care needs of our most frail and elderly Sisters who have given so much to others. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur do not receive any funding from any diocese where we live or work and are entirely responsible for the retirement, health, and long-term care needs of our oldest Sisters.

Support the continuation of Sister Dorothy Stang's work
Your gift sees that the work begun by Sister Dorothy Stang will be sustained and expanded through educational initiatives here in the States and around the world. It will also provide direct support of Sisters in the Amazon region of Brazil who continue the work where Sister Dorothy spent many years of her life.
