2023 Lenten Snapshots

During the 2023 Lenten season, we’ll share the work of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur from around the world. We hope you in turn will share their work with your family, friends, students and faculty.

Lenten Snapshot #2: Clean Water is the Key to Life

Upgrades to the photovoltaic system at Kinsaku, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were completed in 2021.

Kinsaku is located in the Congo Central region, about 155 miles (250 km) from the capital of Kinshasa. Our Sisters run the Kinsaku Ki-Maria Primary School there.

With the upgrade, the site now has capacity for both electricity and pumping. The next step is fabricating the ultra-filtration system, which requires 60-90 pounds per square inch of pressure now available with the increased electrical capacity.

With your support, this vision has become a reality!

Making known God’s goodness,

Photovoltaic equipment in Kinsaku, DRC: The gray inverter (on left) converts the direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) that supplies electricity to the site. The blue equipment (on right) charges the battery throughout the day. At night, the action reverses and they draw from the battery and supply AC to the site.
