Reflections of God's Goodness

I love the month of May! I have so many fond memories of celebrating Mary as the Mother of God and our Mother. Mary, indeed, is someone we can identify with. She was the very first disciple! Like us, she desired to know, love and serve God more each day.

If I could think of one word that describes Mary’s discipleship, I think it would be receptive. Scripture says her response to God’s requests was,

“May it be done to me according to your word.”

Mary’s receptivity to the Holy Spirit was more than a, “Yes.” She opened herself totally to the Spirit and His power. The Holy Spirit acted in and through Mary to bring Jesus into the world. We, too, can invite the Holy Spirit to bring His gift of power to us, to act in and through us to bring Jesus to the world.

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you." Acts 1:8

Think about your life today; where is your opportunity to accept, to invite the Holy Spirit to allow His power to act in and through you?

This month, let us pray together,

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created and you shall renew the face of the earth!

Blessings,
