November 14

10:00 am

Presented by Sister Kristin Matthes, SNDdeN

St. Julie Billiart, the founder of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, encouraged her sisters to “serve the good God well with much liberty of spirit.”  For St. Julie, liberty of spirit was essential to being an authentic witness of God’s love and goodness. Sister Dorothy Stang, a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur martyred in the Brazilian Amazon for her work on behalf of those made poor and the forest itself, exemplified this kind of liberty of spirit in her life and ministry. In this morning of reflection, St. Julie and Sister Dorothy will be our guides as we explore together God’s call to cultivate liberty of spirit in our daily interactions, in our work for justice, and in our prayer.

Kristin Matthes, SNDdeN, is creating a young adult ministry for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur to provide more ways for young adults to connect in meaningful ways to our charism and mission. She taught in Catholic elementary and high schools in Cincinnati, Boston, and New Orleans, coordinated recruitment for Notre Dame Mission Volunteers, and led faith formation programs in a large, multicultural parish in southern Maryland. She lives outside of Washington, DC in a community of Notre Dame Mission Volunteers and SNDdeNs.
