Sister Dorothy Stang, SNDdeN Named Peace Hero in Dayton's Miami Valley Peace Heroes Trail

by Sister Judi Clemens, SNDdeN

On Sunday, October 31, 2021, Judi Clemens accompanied Dayton NDMV Site Director Lisa McGurk and newly “retired” Cincinnati NDMV Site Director Nancy Groszek to the Opening and Celebration of the Miami Valley Peace Heroes Trail located on the grounds of the Miami Valley Unitarian Universalist Church in Centerville, Ohio. The church community partners with Peace Literacy Foundation, the International Peace Museum in Dayton and many organizations to promote peace literacy. Peace Heroes Trail features heroes both living and deceased and lifts up the diverse ways in which peace is promoted. Lisa McGurk nominated Dorothy Stang for this recognition. The celebration included an introduction and the 2 awarding of a check to this year’s peace hero, Amaha Selassie, President of Gem City Market community co-op grocery store, located on Salem Avenue in Dayton. Take just two minutes to view the wonderful video of the 2020 Peace Heroes at www.peaceheroestrail.org.
