October Update

Friday, October 14, is the anniversary of the canonization of St. Oscar Romero. Caritas International created a remembrance of Romero when he was canonized in 2018. Two years ago, the Vatican posted this remembrance. I invite you to hear his voice and message again. Pray this weekend for the safety and effectiveness of all who speak for social justice. Pray especially for the clergy in Nicaragua who are experiencing much the same now, as those in El Salvador in Romero’s time.

Advocacy and Action

For those local to Cincinnati, the Greater Cincinnati Voter Collaborative is looking for volunteers who would be able to drive voters to the polls on November 8. You can sign up here. You will need to create a Log In for the platform called Sign Up Genius. From there you will get an email with further instructions. This is a non-partisan group and voters will be from any party or no party at all.

Catholic Climate Covenant is asking us to add our names to their letter to President Biden before the UN Conference of Parties (COP 27) in Egypt. We are urging ever more international cooperation on addressing climate change. You can read the letter and add your signature at the link above.

Pope Francis and the Laudato Si Movement (formerly Catholic Climate Covenant) released a film entitled The Letter. It is a look at the work of 6 climate activists from around the world and their dialogue with Pope Francis. It is available here. I encourage you to watch it in community.
