Sisters Notre Dame de Namur will mark the congregation's 175th year of service in this country on October 31. Events are being held across the country to commemorate this important milestone. In Philadelphia, a special Mass and reception will take place at Academy of Notre Dame de Namur - Villanova on November 7 in observance of the anniversary.

Sisters of Notre Dame began teaching in the greater Philadelphia area in 1856. Over the years, Sisters taught in 16 area schools including St. Peter Claver Parish School, Gesu Parish School, West Catholic Girls’ High School, Little Flower High School, St. Hubert High School, St. Eleanor Parish School in Collegeville, St. Bernadette Parish School in Drexel Hill, St. Albert the Great Parish School in Huntington Valley, Archbishop Ryan High School for Girls, St. Mary’s Interparochial School and St. Maria Goretti High School.
Sisters of Notre Dame also founded and operated Notre Dame Academy on West Rittenhouse Square, Notre Dame High School in Moylan, Notre Dame High School in Wyncote. The Sisters continue to own and operate the Academy of Notre Dame in Villanova.
