Join us as we celebrate Earth Day
and remember our namesake, Sister Dorothy Stang.
Sr. Dorothy Stang was 73 when she was murdered on an isolated road near the Brazilian town of Anapu. She had lived in the country for nearly four decades and was known as a fierce defender of a sustainable development project
for the Amazon forest.
Sister Nancy Murray, OP, is an Adrian Dominican sister-actress who was born into a family of actors (Bill Murray is her brother) in Wilmette, Illinois. She was a pastoral minister in the Archdiocese of Chicago for many years. She travels the country, and internationally, presenting A One Woman Play about St. Catherine of Siena and some years ago, presented in Cincinnati at St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Westwood. http://nancymurray.adriandominicans.org/
"I don't want to flee, nor do I want to abandon the battle of these farmers who live without any protection in the forest. They have the sacrosanct right to aspire to a better life on the land where they can live and work with dignity while respecting the environment."
