THE OHIO PROVINCE

The Ohio Province became the first U.S. establishment of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1840. We are now one of eight U.S. units.

Province snapshot:

  • 252 sisters make up the Ohio Province.
  • Sisters of the Ohio Province serve in 13 states and in our international missions in Brazil, Nicaragua, Nigeria and Zimbabwe.

  • Mount Notre Dame, in Cincinnati, serves as the heart and center of the Ohio Province. It is the site of our leadership and administrative offices.
  • Every six years, we elect a leadership team to foster the life and mission of the Ohio Province. Members of our leadership team are:

  • The sisters at Mount Notre Dame gather daily for liturgy and prayer in St. Julie Chapel. It is also the site of many province gatherings and celebrations including profession of vows and jubilees.
  • Many of our retired sisters live at Mount Notre Dame and continue active volunteer ministries.
