WHO ARE THE SISTERS OF NOTRE DAME DE NAMUR?The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur
of the Ohio Province are rooted in a rich educational tradition
inspired by our foundresses, St. Julie Billiart and Françoise Blin de Bourdon. Their legacy, which began in 1804, lives today through our life and ministry. As
teachers and administrators, in pastoral care and social work, through community outreach,
counseling, and spiritual direction and as missionaries we love and care for Gods
people.
As an international
community of more than two thousand Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, we live and serve
in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America. In the United States, our presence
extends from the east to the west coasts as we serve in more than 35 states. Although we
are subdivided into smaller units, or provinces, we are one Congregation and collaborate
across unit lines with a strong sense of international identity. The Ohio
Province is one of eight U.S. units and includes Sisters from Massachusetts to Arizona. Our Province Center is in Cincinnati, Ohio.
As Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur:
We believe and trust deeply in Gods goodness
even when life is difficult. We work to enable others to know and experience that goodness
as well. We are firmly rooted in this simple but profound Notre
Dame Spirituality.
- We are joyful gospel women of prayer and service
who invite others to give the gift of themselves and to build communities of love, justice
and peace.
- We are part of a rich tapestry of diversity. We
come from five continents and many cultures. We support and value one anothers gifts
and experiences and those of the people among whom we live.
- We are women in relationship with God and with one
another working to transform our world. God has gifted us with a rich heritage that we share with the entire Church. We remain
open to the Spirit as we continue to adapt to the needs of our world today.
- We invite others into relationship with us.
Through our vocation program, we welcome women
who feel called by God to religious life. Others share in our spiritual journey as Notre Dame Associates. We remain connected through prayer
to all those with whom we have ministered.

for help in exploring
the
possibility of a religious vocation
Discerning about religious life is a process of prayer, reflection, conversation and
listening. As you think about your call to religious
life, we invite you to dialogue with us about our way of living and your desire to
respond to Gods invitation in your life. When you feel ready, we can help you enter
a formal discernment process.
