Sisters Notre Dame de Namur will mark the congregation's 175th year of service in this country on October 31. Events are being held across the country to commemorate this important milestone. In Chicago, a special Mass and reception will take place at St. Robert Bellarmine on September 27 in observance of the anniversary.

Sisters of Notre Dame began teaching in Illinois in 1891, and have been educators in Chicago area schools since 1925. Those schools include St. Alexander Parish School in Villa Park, St. Victor Parish School in Calumet City, St. Peter Canisius Parish School and St. Robert Bellarmine in Chicago, St. Peter Parish School in South Beloit and St. Rita Parish School in Rockford. The Sisters of Notre Dame also built and owned Notre Dame High School on Chicago's north side, which was opened in 1938.
