Paul (Hebrews 1)

“In the past, God spoke in partial ways. In these days he has spoken to us through his Son.”

In the past . . . God was often perceived as a distant deity. One to be placated with sacrifice and suffering.

And now, Lord God, you move among us as Father, Mother, Shepherd, friend. You have become your word, made in our flesh. You are no longer stranger . . . you are kin.
