Choices For Children
Choices for Children is a volunteer mentoring program at Corryville Catholic Elementary School in Cincinnati, OH. The program is designed to help junior high students make a successful transition to high school. The emphasis is on working with 8th grade students, but programs are also in place for selected 6th and 7th grade students. Program staff maintain contact with students after they begin high school to further support these students.
Mentors are the key. They serve as effective partners with students, their families and the school, illustrating successful career paths for high school students and graduates. As a Choices for Children mentor, you would discuss needs and circumstances in confidence with student offering them guidance and a positive influence as they transition to high school.
Since 2007, when the first class of students from the Choices for Children program completed high school every Corryville graduate has continued on to high school - some were the first in their families to do so.
"If I can help just one child, that will be enough for me." - Corryville Catholic Mentor
